recovery is longer than planned

I was born with a cleft lip an palate and recently had a device put on my head to move my upper jaw forward. i recently found out the recovery might be 11 weeks instead of 6 weeks. with this on i can't play spots, swim or even eat hard foods. i feel very self conscious sometimes i wonder "why is God doing this?" please pray the recovery won't be very long.
